Trade Talk R23, 2014

Written by Motts on August 25 2014

Well, here we are. The final trade talk for the year. If you’re still playing and still have trades left, kudos to you. You’ve outwitted, outplayed and outlasted nearly every other coach in your league.

I don’t have to tell you: the moves you make this week are critical.

Who’s coming and who’s going?

  1. made into my cash league GF thanks to my trade to Rocky last week. still have johnson, JPK and boomer. seems like Stevie j is unlikely to play this week so i’ve got $1,040,900 to get a forward/mid and a mid for him and Boomer. seems to me like Gray is a must so will have $468k for someone else.
T/U Gray and dal santo (v melbourne)
T/D another funky combo like watson and martin/petrie/roughead
comment for Gray and someone else
cheers any thoughts would much appreciated!

  2. Trying to decide on a Bulldogs player to replace Stevie J. They should score well against GWS.
T/U Macrae (Predicted 119 on SC Gold)
T/D Liber (Predicted 83, but surely can do better.)

    Any other suggestions?

  3. In GF and 1 trade left, also think I need to bring in Gray. Could cop the Crawley, but given the team I am facing has him I can’t risk it again!

Also hope all players selected so I can cut Simpson for Gray via S Mitchell, so not happy with Simpson last 2 weeks.

  4. Three grannies, used last two trades on Beams and Fyfe for Sidey and Rocky which worked OK.

Have 7 premo Ds, one of which (Malcescki 125) sat on the bench costing me two grannies by a max of 7 points. Gotta hate that.

Mids all there at this stage (Duckwood pending) with Shenton as cover.

Wood as cover for Sauce/Sandi and hoping Dusty is back to complete the Fs and if not Kersten as sublime back up or Shenton down from Ms if Duckwood play.

Team should be OK without any further carnage – surely its all over LOL!!! Wins aside, still hoping to maintain top 50 overall.

  5. 1 trade left 218k in the bank, 3 grandfinals, only one im really worried about.

waiting for teams, but looking at bringing in priddis or jpk (if he plays).

Had a good run this year and hopefully it stays this way for one more week!!!

  6. Just the 12 comments in the Trade Talk column approaching Tuesday night. I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but I suspect most of us have run out of trades!

  7. This is my first year in AFL Supercoach and being from Sydney, NRL Supercoach is the dominant franchise up here. I dont know most of the SC Relevant players so I decided to wait until Round 2 to form a team. With the free two week from Supercoach Gold and with the assistance of you guys on here I was able to field a decent team even if I was starting from rank 210,000. I ended up joining a public league and held off from trading until Round 7. This pretty much meant I was chasing the field from the gun. I managed to somehow survive the split rounds somehow and came home like a train. Unfortunately I was stuck in a position where I was only able to finish as high as 8th(Team tides In) if I won my 3 out of my remaining 4 games and Team Tides In dropped 3 out of his remaining 4 games. It gets better. The final round arrived and I was level on points but in 9th on F&A. I was versing Team Hot Dogs, a team coming 1st and that had suffered only 1 loss in the regular season. I could still make the 8 if I lost provided that Team Tides In lost by at least 410 more than me. I lost to the frontrunner 2150 to 2121 (lost by 29), Team Tides in suffered the same fate losing 2081 to 1594 (lost by 487). Ive made my first Major AFL final series. I began the final series with 9 trades, one more than I actually need. I fought my way through the entire series winning my first matchup against Team Jibseys Jokers 2206 to 2072, before disposing of Team the stooges 2021 to 1902. Then the Supercoach Avalanche of Keepers began to fall. Like most teams I lost Nathan Fyfe, Michael Barlow, Dayne Beams and Brent Harvey. I traded out Fyfe and Barlow for Tommy Rockliff and Rory Sloane. With Robbie Gray scoring 174 with the VC, Brent Harvey contributed one more time as Captain for Round 22, helping me to my maiden final against Team Drug free 2159 to 2061. Once again I take on Team Hot Dogs in the final who is coming off a round of 2363, the types of scores I am yet to reach. I will be trading Steele Sidebottom and Tom Liberatore into my team for Harvey and Beams. Regardless of the result I have thoroughly enjoyed playing AFL Supercoach, even if I am an NRL head. NRL Supercoach have so much to learn off the way this show is run. You dont get screwed around with dodgy updates in AFL and the lockout period ends less than 2 hours after the final game. In the NRL Supercoach you could be waiting up to 16 hours after the last game. I am now coming 137,000th so Im happy with the 80k rise in ranks for my first year. Thank you to all the posts on this site and I will be back next year for some more. Cheers Guys!
