Game Chat – Melbourne v Richmond

Written by Father Dougal on July 5 2020

Where and when: Sunday 4th July at 3:35pm (AEST) at the MCG

Last time they met: Rd 20, 2019: Melbourne 9.6 (60) lost to Richmond 13.15 (90)

What it means for the Demons: Two teams with one win enter; one team with one win leaves! Yeah, almost the same joke I used for the Crows and Dockers, but it’s so right there! The Demons really need a win to keep any sort of hopes alive. Although the game in hand can’t hurt.

What it means for the Tigers: Two teams with one win enter; one team with one win leaves! The Tigers really need a win to keep any sort of hopes alive. If they are going to get their mojo back this would be a good time and a good team to do it against.

Supercoach Watch:

Melbourne: Gawn for sure, although Grundy owners won’t have the C on him.  Satan Oliver of course, and Rivers is the donut that wasn’t for many backlines. Petracca may have some new owners, and Viney is probably owned by most of the people who added him R2.

Richmond: Dusty is probably still owned by many who started with him or added in R2.

Father Dougal’s Watch: Tom Lynch. ‘Cause I own him and want him to put up a big profitable score! If you are not  me, well, must be someone in this match you care about right? Really isn;t anyone extra special I think. As of now at least, post game who knows!

Father Dougal’s Tip: I am once again feeling things evenish. Can I predict the winner will issue a grade A pounding to the loser, whoever those are? Someone by 30?  If forced to say who, the Demons are better after not having a week off.

  1. Ok Rivers here is your chance to show yourself. You are covering for many teams due to all the injuries last week to premos, so don’t let us down!

  3. Anyone got an explanation for Oliver having lower sc than dt? 7 touches, 6 effective, 4 contested, 2 clearances, no fa?.

  4. F@#k me the AFL has made a mess of the holding the ball rule. Players with no prior getting pinged for holding the ball.

  5. Those who thought the naismith/jacobs duet was clever must be kicking themselves. And add Viney after his r1.
    Grawn…that is all.

    1. Yep, don’t get cute with rucks when there are two that so clearly stand above the rest. Gawn + Grundy. This isn’t hard lol.

        1. Eh, not really. First few rounds, sure – but he only managed 137 v English last night, compared to Grundy’s 179 and Big Maxxy’s inevitable 200.

Just don’t see how you can go past Gawn and Grundy.

        2. Goldstein was averaging more than both of those players coming into this round, and was $100K cheaper to start the year.

  6. I wonder who the Richmond players are that won’t be going to the hub.
Hopefully not Pickett but if he stays in Victoria then he’s gone from my team
