I have made my decision. You do not sideways trade. Ever(unless LTI). However I may have to reconsider Golby as my mid-priced POD. There appears to be better options at his price and he is still young so will get better just not good enough for my needs. I am not happy with Shaw, Broughton, Pavlich and Martin but will stand by them. Trades are gold.

ive watched golby closely for a few years, and yes, his injuries have cursed him, but in my opinion, a star in the making. he hasnt played many games, but he has poise and knowledge, and his stats actually do count. only downside is voss as coach. hes playing him as a tagger in defence, which is costing the lions. when voss lets him loose, he will be in the drummond mould ie: setting up from half back. blacks injury means adcock will move to the middle, which in turn i believe will free up golby to be the play maker.so i am sticking with him for 2 more weeks, freo, then gc. thats my opnion, and of course could be wrong. good luck either way with your decision juddy.

Personally I think the eagles and sydney was a better rivalry. Hasn’t Geelong won all the games against hawks since the grand final a few years back? I don’t think it’s much of a rivalry if one team keeps winning, even if they are great games like they were today. Eagles and Sydney you couldn’t pick who would win and all there games were decided by something like less then 10 points over a few years and they played in 2 grand finals and won one each. But that’s just my opinion…. I do think that hawks and cats games are great to watch though and always a nail biter.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 5

I doubt anybody thinks Dempsey will outscore Broughton over the course of the entire year – however his price will be increasing as Broughton’s is falling and he will be scoring good points whilst you decide which of the fallen premiums to acquire later. Depending on how close your team is to winning overall, and how consistent he is, he may even be a keeper – certainly a handy bench player to have.

2053 with Murphy captain.

Seen a few go with this format, so I might go back to school and give it a go this week:
A+: Murphy, Deledio, Lake, Goddard, Ablett
A: Pendlebury, Magner, Clarke, Selwood
B: Fyfe, Kennedy, Shiel, Bugg, Ellis
C: Cox, Broughton, Franklin, Smith
D: Pavlich, Martin, Hall
F: Mumford (no EMG)

Not looking forward to seeing the overall ranking I’ll have tonight, but it’s only early days. Leaning towards sticking with Broughton as he’s got Brisbane, Gold Coast and Port in his next 5 and he’s got just as much potential as any other premium back. Not many others doing too much better down there! And I hate trading Premiums!

SCT5

2160 / GAJ

A++ – Jobe, Lids, Gods, GAJ
A+ – Lake, TheGoodSwallow, Giles, Joelwood
A – Magnet, Porps
B – Fyffa, Buddy
C – JRed, Broughts, Shaw, Kennedy, Stevie J
D – Ellis, Dusty, DevSmith, Buggsta, Caddy

On the chopping block:
Broughton, Caddy, Johnson, Shaw (probably won’t trade the last 3)

SCTTL3

2167 / Murphy (Loophole)

Equal second for the week.

The Good: Murphy, Magner, Clarke, Deledio, Lake, Goddard, Giles, Ablett, Selwood

The Bad: Pavlich, Shaw, Martin, Ellis, Smith, Bugg, Coniglio

Chopping Block: Pavlich, Shaw, Pfeiffer, Saad

Betting

Bloody Hawks lost it for me in my multi – had it all in the bag and then Buddy decides to dribble it and Osborne and Breust miss sitters and I lose $560 that should have been mine.

Happy Easter everyone! Have fun this week with your trading! :D

For some reason Clarko loves Shitmakers and has faith in him. I just don’t get it. He can’t match up on the big boys, his decision-making sucks and he’s like a rabbit in the headlights when the pressure is on. I’d jettison him at the end of the year. Has probably single handedly cost us 3-4 games against the Cats the last 2-3 years. That said, Tomahawk is a monster it looks like he starting to believe in what his body can do on the ground.

Bateman is finished, and has been on the decline with injuries the last 2-3 years. I’d be playing Shiels and Puopolo ahead of him.

Osborne has some value as he is a good pressure small forward. He just had a bad day.

The kids 21 and playing against monsters because we don’t have enough size down back. I agree he has a long long way to go but I just hate people (especially so called “supporters”) going at the soft target when the were a LOT of other factors that lost us a game we should have won. I’d rather question what happened to Mitchell, Lewis and Sewell in the second half when Bartel and Duckwood won the game.

…and anyway, I blame Kennett :)

Agree with NN9, Boumann had Dawes and Gibson was providing a chop out between him and Cloke. I hope he proves me wrong, but I just don’t think he’s up to it smarts-wise.

Agree Fish that when we needed those blokes to stand up they went missing. That’s why blokes like Bartel and Joelwood are triple premiership players. Maybe Hodge could have made the difference.

If mumford has an LTI its time to bring myself in (NIC_NAT) looks like our no.1 ruck so far this year and he loves getting contested possies. should have gone with my gut feeling and started him. Cox;s numbers are down and surely Nic has something to do with it so far.

Other option wait it out since mumford wont drop in price, (run with Redden and Giles) and get Cox or Goldstein at a cheaper price?
Im still not sold on Sandi, i think rossy will rest him when he’s not 100%

Problem is Ross Lyon, if broughton was playing his normal role and was just having a bad spell then i dont think we would consider trading him, the fact that he’s fine and that he’s role has changed is the real worry! he’s becoming the carazzo of a few years ago when he started tagging and playing negating roles so i think he’s gotta go, bite the bullet people!!

People thinking of downgrading Broughton/Shaw/Scotland to Dempsey, don’t be silly?
Why might you ask? I’ll tell you why!
despite saving the odd $250 K, you’re downgrading a premium, a proven performer who has generally been a supercoach favourite to a man who had the dirtiest of beards a week back.
Some people will say “I don’t care about beards, he’s averaged 100 odd points in the last 2 weeks and is about to rise in price”
Supercoachers, don’t be naive, we’re talking about a man who’s just come back from a season ending knee injury, with a history of inefficient ball use (though i must admit, he’s been much improved in the last 2 games).
Dempsey, in all likelihood, won’t be a keeper in your team, once he hits a certain price, you’ll want to upgrade him to someone better, more consistent, requiring yet ANOTHER TRADE. That’s two trades used to get from one premium to another.
Again, the counter argument might be “well i just made 250 thousand, who cares if i use 2 trades”.
There’s no guarantee Dempsey will keep up his scoring efficiency, and what if that happens? there goes yet ANOTHER TRADE, trying to fix a premium who’s had 2 bad weeks ! Is it worth the risk, putting yet another mid-pricer in our defences anyway? When there are proven performers for the same price, such as Brian Lake? Who many of us have, do we really need another mid-pricer to solve our Premium problems?
With that said, I must admit, the Broughton trade is looking very tempting. Why, you might ask? If he’s a premium, won’t he come good?
Normally, the answer would be ‘of course, you’d be absurd to trade out a premium’.
The risk many of us took was that Broughton would be used in his more fancied role of on ball, or through the guts you might prefer. This is where he churned out his best scores alst year and in previous years. What Lyon has done, is place him in a shut down role – the worst kind of role. This heavily negates his weekly supercoach score, as stopping his opponent is his main aim, not hitting 30 possies and a goal. When he was named on ball for round 1, I, like many other supercoachers placed him in our sides straight away. Big, big mistake.

The way to go is to sideways trade him, there are plenty of options like Birchall, Bock, Suckling, Carrazzo, Bob Murphy, Fisher, and many more. There’s just no certainty in downgrading a premium to a mid-pricer.

the argument i think people will find with your analysis of the situation is that, with all things staying the same, Broughton is not a premium SC prospect… The common definition of a premium is someone who scores a ton on average… Is Broughton one those players “with all things staying the same”

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

Reply

El Greco April 9, 2012 at 10:11 pm

In his current role, definitely not. Though I strongly think Dempsey is the wrong option to replace someone worth $508 K.
With the Duff out this week, he may gain a more sustained run in the midfield, though with Mundy and Barlow slowly making their way back to the starting 21, it’s not a certainty.
The problem is, there are just too many variables with Broughton at the moment, too many potential factors that will influence his scoring.

Historically, Stanton is the polar opposite of the ideal supercoach player, his disposal efficiency is generally not very high. Unless he’s dramatically worked on it over the summer, I’d steer well clear of him.

On an irrelevant note, Birchall seems pretty consistent. If you watched todays game he had an awesome 3rd quarter after a quiet first half which really boosted his score.
Carrazzo seems to have been freed up a bit this year, wouldn’t really recommend him though.

Swallow hasn’t been bad (90 and 128). But it’s that he still seems to have the tendency to go missing at times where SC midfield premiums need to be constantly there accumulating points.

Have some cash up my sleeve and see no logical reason to not trade him for an uber premium. Much thought and deliberation to be had!!

Supercoach has been won since the incepion of Guns & Rookies (circa 2007 when the big prizes eventuated) by only that strategy.
Last year all top ten teams began with GnR.

Deledio/Ablett/Murphy/Pendlebury – Cheers.
Lake – You listened to us and stepped up.
Magner/Giles – I may not bench you guys again..
Martin/Fyfe/Shaw/Franklin – 500k+ is a premium in my book.. where are those tons fellas?
Mumford – WTF?!? Last week I forgave you.. this week to don’t even play?
J Riewoldt – How the hell do you do the opposite of Lake?
Deledio – Tell your teammates to step it up.

I Had $50 on the cats between 1-19 points @ $4.75 and final score to be Hawks between 76 and 90 and Geelong between 91 and 105 @ 16 x $10
Also won a footy multi and soccer multi. $450 profit for the weekend and tipped 9 (not too hard this round). Scored 2201 in sc with 4/5 prems scoring less than their average.
Pretty happy BigMolly at the moment :D

Quick question. UP: Persist with Parker and Golby and trade Tory Dickson and another shit rook for Milera and Greene or DOWN: Trade Parker and Golby for Milera and Greene and gain some spare cash.

The beauty of supercoach is you know that the round doesn’t start until at least Thursday.
Any other fantasy premier league coaches will be feeling my pain right now, the gameweek finished this morning (gw33) and the next one started about an hour ago (gw34). Pain in the ass.

Hi guys,

Quick Question: I’m surprised Dustin Martin’s name hasn’t come up in more conversation. He’s underperformed and will lose out on a heap of cash.

I Was thinking of bringing in Zaharakis or even opting for Tommy Hawkins after his superb start to the year. Even thought of bringing in Petrie! Let me know your thoughts – Can definitely raise some money on his trade! Especially if I opt for T Hawkins who will likely go up around $20k and Dustin Martin drop around $20-30k.

Thoughts?

Gday Al
Ive got Dusty and im tempted to trade him but you should only trade premos or sideways trade if they have a LTI.So keep the faith he will come good his up against melbourne on the weekend if he doesnt come good then it might be a worry.

Was contemplating Dusty Martin and it struck me that his two games have been against Carlton and Collingwood. Of the other top five from last year he only has Geelong in Rnd 4, WC in Rnd 5 and Carlton again in Rnd 18. I’m going to hold fire and keep Dusty.

Thumbs up: Good logic, keep him

My backline at the moment is Goddard, Deledio, Grimes, Lake, M Clarke, Guthrie, Ellis (Bugg, Darley) what should I do? comments.

Wait until we get some news on the big Galoot first, then make a decision based on that. If he is out again with the same thing then it may be a wise decision to give him the arse now and see how he goes later on and then you can trade him back in after the byes.

About To Get Reimered
2165/GAJ WR-45,848 OAR-22,400
The Good
GAJ, Watto, Smurph, God, Lids, Giles, Porps and Clarke.
The Bad
Mummy, Heater, Brought-on-a-headache, Buddy, Fyfe, Pav, Dusty
The Ugly
Ross Lyon.
Pending Trades
My Golby risk hasn’t paid off so he will be getting the chop probably for Dempsey or Lake. I will wait and see for info on Mummy about his shaggers back. If he is up the shitters ditch then it would be hard to go past a straight swap for 211.

Squirelly Wrath SCTTL 2
2011/GAJ
The Good
God, Lids, Clarke, Stants, Smurph, GAJ, Giles and Porps.
The Bad
The same as above team but add Cox and minus Brought-on-a-headache.
The Down Right Disgusting
Mummy and not knowing about him in time to use Giles 100, Ross Lyon
Pending Trades
Pfffff and Wondersoap for Malleria and Grassy Knoll.

Multi-Bet.

Layed out $40 on a 9 game option with only 7 to win and come in with 6 to miss out on the biscuits. Picked Carlton over 39.5, Dons under 39.5, WC over 39.5, Adelaide win, North over 39.5, Saints over 39.5. Pies screwed me by playing shitfull in the last as I had then for over 39.5 and missed Sydney and Cats for the win. Hawks and Pies…… I hate you. you robbed me of close to 3k.
Oh well there is always next week.

Trade- Thumbs up

I could trade him for a Mid or a Forward.

It’s a tough call, though last week, Dickson got 40 points after coming on as the sub early in the 4th, which is pretty good.
Hall looks like a livewire forward pocket, who’s too inconsistent to churn out 60-70 every week, but has the capacity to turn the game on it’s head
I’d trade Hall, but wait until the teams are announced

Scored an average 1985 this week to go with my 1998 from last week.

So many trades are sitting there wanting to be made.
Broughton, Stevie J, Martin just to name a few.

Decided to pull the trigger on (Reverse changes button coverage)
Darley -> Demsey
Mummy -> 211

Not completely sold on the Mummy -> 211 trade as its a sideways premo trade but I am also worried about the back injury & can’t afford a week on week off playing from Mummy

why are people trading premiums after rnd 2?? u pick ur premiums, knowing at the end of the day they are goin to prob drop in value over the course of the season.. no point chasing last wks scores & no point trading out players u are likely to trade back in down the track..

2242/GAJ

The good – Godds,Dids,Watto,GAJ,Smurf,Lake, Giles,Morris ( on my bench)

The bad – Broughton,C Smith,Martin,Heater

Pleased with my rookies thus far. I feel I have all the decent ones going around so if I stick tight with Broughton it might be the first time in 3 years that I make no trades going into week 3…..

I have a future trade in my mind – Coniglio to Old Mac…..Hopefully the two week buffer I have allows Coniglio to make some money and then I can actually downgrade him to old mac….\

Not sure on Milera Is he worth it??? Perhaps Dickson ( who looked great for that little bit he did play) to Milera..maybe…Or perhaps Davis
