Who's On The Block?

Written by Motts on May 16 2010

Some big names are expected not to play in R9 through either injury or suspension. Gram looks out for 3, McIntosh was a late withdrawal for the Roos, and Bob Murphy’s knee is playing up again. While at the tribunal Hille, Waite, and Eddie Betts are all facing a nervous couple of days.

When you throw into that some really poor performances over the weekend (I’m talking to you, Ryan O’Keefe!), who’s on the block?

  1. Hoping to remove Vince and Trengove for a premium. Haven’t seen footage but i have Hille and Waite so hoping that they play next round. Glad to hear Thommo say on radio that PODs will play on Friday night.

  2. May be forced to make 2 changes with both Gram and Hille (3 ‘strikes’ and you’re out). Wanted to upgrade a rookie but that may have to wait.

  3. Also happy that Pods is back in, even if I support the Mighty Pies!
Not happy with Eski, Martin, Morabito and Davis. Hope that Eski will come good and gonna keep Davis cause of that DPP status!Who would be a good swap for Martin and Morabito? One reasonable player and I can wear a rookie for the pine. Appreciate all suggestions.Thoughts?

  4. My kinda running low on trades so it looks like I’ll hang off on putting anyone on the block unless of LTI and I believe Murphs and Gram fall under this cloud. As for my new recruit Jarred Waite, what were you thinking this will be 2 weeks in a row where the player I brought into my side gets suspended in the same week.

  5. If Hille gets suspended I’m in big trouble.
Gram would have been on the block; his injury makes that irrelevant. Probably trade him for the cheapest playing def. I can find as I have Hunt & Waters on the bench scoring well.
Ziebell on the block then for me. Has done nothing all year.

  6. Traded in Sylvia before his price change, and he has scored 51. 54 and 30…. just bloody ridiculous! Also his drop in price of $91k in only 3 weeks makes him my worst trade for the season so far

  7. Not looking @ trading this week unless Freo agrees to my very generous proposal of Warnock for Sandilands.

Long term would like to get Hurn & Sandilands, but I’m happy with my team a.t.m and want to conserve my trades.

    1. Webberley is v.popular with Richmond SC players that I know. They think he will play around 12 games. I hope Roberton recovers from his ‘soreness’ and score me some bloody points.

      1. Good option, Shep will play all remaining games and most in mid/rebounding def roles which should score him well.

      1. surely Pods gets a game before Ziebell Danger and Rockliff!… I’d downgrade Danger to Hughes then ugrade Ziebell to Pavlich/O’Keffe/Chapman probably Pavlich… Then start Pods and Have the forward line of Brown, Didak, Pavlich, Kennedy, Sylvia, Pods and Rockliff

        1. Only reason I had Pods on the bench was because he didn’t play previous round. Appreciate the help! Do you think Hughes will definitely get a game this week?

  9. Anyone do the magnificant trade of Hall out, O’Keefe in? Cost me 123pts, $$$ and a wasted trade (for this week anyway). Come on ROK, lift your game son, you are a Supercoach star who needs to lift.

  13. No way you would trade ROK at this stage. He’s a genuine star and is allowed to have a rough day every now and then. Would be a waste of a trade needed elsewhere. Keep him for the season…
Not looking forward to next week for him though… his average over the last 5 games against Freo is concerning… at 82.6 with scores of 65 and 80 in his last two :s

or cash in on D Martin and upgrade to a mid under $600.00

  16. gram and trengove are on the block this week for me. I have several options i am thinking about, and i would appreciate any advice. I have 14 trades and $26,600 left over.

    OPTION 1
Downgrade Gram to Brad Sheppard, then upgrade Trengove to Judd. Will have $33,400 left over. I can affored any midfielder, so if anyone can think of anyone better than Judd let me know.

    OR

    OPTION 2
Downgrade Gram to SHeppard, then upgrade Trengove to Dal Santo. WIll have $121,100 which i can use for later upgrades

    OR

    OPTION 3
Leave Gram on the bench and put maguire on field.

    What do you guys reckon?

  18. Thankfully Hille got off so i dont have to worry about him. If gram is out for a while i might downgrade warnock to a cheaper ruckman. It seems a waste to have so much cash on the bench without him playing. This gives me enough cash to get gilbee in for gram.

    1. Silvagni and Martin are ripe therefore downgrade former to the BBQ and upgrade Deano for Pav to give you DPP coverage for Chappy, ROK. (Howlett should be a rookie keeper/cover)
This will have your mid set with cash left for a further upgrade in the fwds/backs and another downgrade/upgrade option down the track leaving 6 LTIs before the season’s end.
Good luck – as Chris found last year, its all about timing of trades.

  23. I have Hooker and Brennan who are looking at extended time out of the game but won’t look at trading unless a really awesome trade down option comes along in the next couple of weeks.

Luke Hodge is the only reason Hawthorn has any hope this season. He is also responsible for my backline putting up good numbers each week!

Trengove in the ruck has started to really come into his own. Warnock should take notes! IF he ever makes it back…

Anyhow for those who would like to offer any thoughts or trade advice and admittedly the Forwards need work, my team, is as follows:

Backs: Hodge, Malceski, Enright, Goodwin, Kennelly, Waters, Maguire (Hooker, Silvagni)

Mids: Ablett, Goddard, Barlow, Watson, Judd, Martin (Brennan, Jetta)

    Rucks: Cox, Hille (Warnock, Trengove)

      1. Only to save on trades really… I actually used Pavlich from the Mids to cover for Pod’s absence last weekend hence why Brennan is on the mids bench.

Chances are I’ll keep him given that his injury is only short term.

This week i was thinking of down grading him to 1 of simon White or Phil Davis and bring Silvagni on the feild then i would have around 280k left then next week i want to upgrade Ziebell or Martin i was goign with Ziebell more, Then i would have around 580k but i dont wanna use it all so i want some one around 550k but there is so many good players if any one can suggest who to get it would be great thanks.

How many trades you got left?
Your whole team is strong apart from ur rucks.

Sandi is high but smashing it, or could get Cox who’s not too bad a price atm.
Heath Shaw, Gilbee, Grundy all good picks for your backs.
    Higgins, Rioli forwards.

Looking at Higgins/Brown if they keep sliding. Any thoughts on splitting these?
Seems no1 clearly knows if Brown is clearly injured or just a niggle?

    Team is:
Goddard, Hodge, Gilbee, Enright, H.Shaw, Maguire, Waters.
Ablett, Judd, Montagna, Selwood, Coonie, Barlow.
    Sandilands, Hille.

I have both of these guys and they are killing me with their inconsisteny. Below 40 the over 120 then back down again, It’s an emotional rollercoaster i’m looking to get off.

I want to trade one of them for Adam Goodes. Any advice on who to cut? It’s a line ball for me right now.

  30. @ Swans05.

    Your midfields all set.

  31. Wanna make my final move for a while need a forward.

Looking at Higgins/Brown if they keep sliding. Any thoughts on splitting these?
Seems no1 clearly knows if Brown is clearly injured or just a niggle?
Or could possibly go with Rioli/Goodes?

    Team is:
Goddard, Hodge, Gilbee, Enright, H.Shaw, Maguire, Waters.
Ablett, Judd, Montagna, Selwood, Coonie, Barlow.
    Sandilands, Hille.
    Chapman, Pavlich, O’keefe, Harvey, R.Gray, Pods, Brown/Higgins/Rioli/Goodes

  32. Barry Hall or Cyril Rioli?
I have both of these guys and they are killing me with their inconsisteny. Below 40 the over 120 then back down again, It’s an emotional rollercoaster i’m looking to get off.

I want to trade one of them for Adam Goodes. Any advice on who to cut? It’s a line ball for me right now.
