Game Chat – Brisbane vs Essendon

Written by Huttabito on June 10 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: the Gabba, Sunday, June 10, 1.10pm AEST

SUMMARY
Which team can put last weekend’s demoralising loss behind it best? Brisbane was smashed in the first half by North Melbourne before earning some pride back late in the match, while Essendon was taught a lesson by premier Richmond in the Dreamtime at the ‘G contest. For the Lions it was just their second poor loss of the season, and with a mounting injury list that includes small forward sensation Charlie Cameron (ankle) and midfield bull Mitch Robinson (toe), their depth will again be put to the test. Dayne Beams has been peerless since stepping down from the captaincy a fortnight ago and looms as a crucial player for the Bombers to curtail. Essendon seemed to have its season back on track with wins over Geelong and Greater Western Sydney before the Tigers got a hold of it. Brisbane has been super competitive on its home ground this season and might just be good enough to get home in a tight one.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R15, 2017, Brisbane Lions 13.12 (90) d Essendon 11.16 (82) at Etihad Stadium
R2, 2017, Essendon 17.9 (111) d Brisbane Lions 12.12 (84) at the Gabba
R18, 2016, Brisbane Lions 20.8 (128) d Essendon 12.19 (91) at Etihad Stadium
R8, 2015, Essendon 21.10 (136) d Brisbane Lions 12.6 (78) at Etihad Stadium
R8, 2014, Essendon 9.11 (65) d Brisbane Lions 8.9 (57) at the Gabba

Hutta’s Tip: Brisbane by 10 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  2. So I’ve got Hurley on my field (and confirmed when I refresh the team page).
But in ‘gameday’ he is listed on my interchange with no ‘E’ or anything

      1. Refreshed, logged out, logged in, and still the same issue.
Hopefully it gets resolved after this game’s scores are finalised

        1. I believe it is because it can only have 18 players on the field in the bye round and since he is currently playing he has a score of 0. This is the lowest score of all the players on the field so they place him on the bench, as they take the highest scoring 18. Once the game is over is score is changed from the 0 to his actual score and this should place him on the field as he is no longer the lowest.
          This is my theory

          1. Doesn’t make sense though, as I’ve only got 18 scoring players fielded (plus I’ve never seen this happen in previous seasons).
I’ve looked through a couple leagues and it appears everyone with Hurley has the same issue (if anyone here can confirm?)

            1. Hi Pete, the same issue was all week end. I had it with Heeney and SC fixes it at the end, so you wont miss the score. Check the Sydney game Thread.

        2. Yeah they been messed up all weekend.

Scores seem to get settled ok later, but it’s rather confusing.

I got a distressed call from mum about it yesterday. I think dad was gonna have a heart attack because he though I’d stuffed up his team.
