Welcome back to the TEAM for 2019! Where every Coach can influence the line-up of the TEAM…………
ROUND FOUR SUMMARY
Not a massive score by any means. Just an average 2159 for the TEAM last week but it still managed to get us seven League wins. Most importantly is that little section on the bottom right……….we still have ALL 30 TRADES at our disposal……..
ROUND FOUR LINE-UP
I’ve been going over the TEAM for the last 24 hours and have come to the same conclusion………I don’t know where to start with trading right now. Unlike many Coaches out there, I actually think Sydney Stack is safe for a few weeks in the Tigers line-up (Grigg & Short ‘indefinite’) and is worth bringing in……..but for whom? And to upgrade what?
I’ll throw it open to you, Coaches. If you want to make a trade suggestion, leave it in the comments below. If there is sufficient support from the Coaching Staff (thumbs up), then it will be put to a poll before Thursday.
So what do you recommend, Coaches? What would you do if this was your team?
Captains poll below, positional polls to follow tomorrow
UPDATE on 19/4/19 at 9am
The selection table has thrown out a surprise or two…….the main one being Reilly O’Brien from Adelaide. Not only does he have some good cash generation to be made, he suddenly has good job security with news of Sam Jacobs going under the knife. So I put the question to you, the Coaching Staff………should we use our first trade of the year on O’Brien or even Sydney Stack? VOTE NOW……….
And the usual positional questions…….
Thank you, Coaches!

With two weeks for setterfield…he’s the obvious one, but we need to wait for selections. Shame we have no mid with a dpp.
v on Neale if no greenwood, otherwise v on Grundy, with cripps on standby
Not really the place for this news, but Talking Footy just reported Fyfe likely to miss this coming week as well…
I think Stack’s a good pick. Like his JS and he looks good. He has both games, despite poor score this week.
Personally think Butters is the worst we have and with PTA’s difficult fixture, has served his time.
If you read what I wrote in my pre-season planning guide, it pays to offload your worst-performing rookies (starting at the bottom) for any COW who looks like he’ll make you $150k+. To me Stack does. And possibly a fair bit more over coming weeks. Remember that over time, the scarcer the downgrades become and the worse they generally are. Just make sure you keep the good ones for a while (eg Walsh, Constable …) and it will all even itself out nicely. There’s also no rule that you must UG when you DG. Keep the cash for a week and buy a Yeo/Simmo/Laird type when they bottoms out!! There’ll be plenty of cheap ones to choose from.
I like Ross next week too!
If we hear Sauce is out for at least two more, then I also think ROB (lets call him that, it’s easier) is worth taking for Setters, via Bines.
AS…I love reading your always excellent comments. There are so few downgrade options, planning is difficult. I dont know about the Bines thing. As I have said elsewhere, he is the best c loop over the year…15 of the last 18 rds after this week, and Setterfield can do the role this week…that gives us another week to look at the options and cow fattening. If sauce was def 3-4 weeks, that would make the option easier. I dont mind double trades, but generally, only if an uber results.
On the other hand, with 30 trades, we can burn one…so maybe a scott or gibbons to stack is the go. Shame no f/m in the mids…would make life easier. The other option is balta out, burgess forward and bring in rotham. Butters next to go.
Obviously I have reconsidered since my first posting !!
Good argument to be made that both Parker and Gibbons are ready to move on. Parker has already made 93k and may have plateaued. Gibbons has (some) more money to make but it will take a long time and makes him a prime candidate for expulsion through the allsaints theory.
Opinions on getting Scully?
He’s had one good game, is awkwardly priced and injury prone is an understatement. Can’t see how you could get him in without affecting structure and taking a monumental risk as well.
Don’t forget to Hore in and Clark out. (bench).
In hindsight, this is why IMO you should always have a DPP on the emergency bench in the midfield.
As we are seeing now, a ruck loop hole does not quite have the same flexibility, or am i being biest coz i’m only 165cm tall.
I personall think you hold setterfield as a loophole. He may use his time off to reflect and come back and put up an 80.
Yes… He can be both a c loop this week, and maybe an e loop.
The OG I will be holding him for that exact reason especially as his BE is reasonable and his JS should be just as solid when his suspension ends e.g. come straight back in.
Big problems with the forward line with possibly 4 players missing.
Drew, Parker, Setterfield and Balta. Think most sides will have problems in the forward line this week. Some big price drops coming in the next few weeks, however, needs to be corrected this week.
An option could be
Out: Z Butters,P Bines/N Balta/B Scott/etc
In: S Stack, R O’Brien
Should free up sufficient cash to allow M Parker to J Westhoff in the next fortnight.
Who wants J Westhoff in the team though???
Since 2012 he has only missed 1 game playing 156 of 157 highlighting his durability.
Provides ruck cover.
Historically averages high 80’s to low 90’s and will be available at around 400,000 or less which is a 150,000+ discount on his starting price.
Marshall’s inclusion for PTA should be beneficial for the Hoff which should push him up the ground to play his usual role.
Gets rid of a poor cash generating rookie which the team has plenty of and a poor rookie score on field.
If not the Hoff then T McDonald could be alternative who is currently priced at 402,900 with a breakeven of 130 and has averaged 89+ for 3 of the past 4 seasons.
Not me
Who do you prefer around the same price range and what are your thoughts on T McDonald?
Lobb????
Westhoff is currently taking the Full Forward minutes of Dixon. I do not recommend until his role has changed back to a wing/link-up player.
Lobb has stated he wants to play Forward… as soon as someone for Freo is available, I reckon he moves out of the Ruck and his points diminish.
Roughhead (COL) has F/R swing, is in their best 22, scoring reasonable (80+), if the TEAM wants to take on a Ruck Cover player.
I recommend that if the forward line can cover itself for the TEAM this week, then the trade to consider is Rielly O’Brien (ROB). It’s been confirmed that he’s going to Ruck for the Crows for the next 4-6 weeks while Sauce recovers from surgery. He has the potential to be a very good cash cow…
Execute via:
– Cutting Balta
– Push Bines to Forward Line
– Bring in ROB as R3
Thoughts?
Saw this elsewhere…..makes huge sense.
1. Gibbons out
2. Setterfield to mids and put c on him for anyone presently onfield.
3. Bines goes fwd.
4. OB into ruck.
Gives us c loop for next two weeks via setterfield, and bines for rest of year.
Slightly cash positive.
Massive cash generation potentially
Burns only one trade.
I can’t see a downside.
I’m suspecting selection chaos tonight, but as long as we have 22 onfield, we do this
Make sure you make the moves before west coast play other wise Bines will be locked at R3
If Heeney out we are in strife…gotta find a mid dpp
Constable is OUT this monday..
Lets get that E on scott today please schwarzwalder!
If he flops we can play gibbons or atkins then.
Done…..
well atleast we had the E on him and not straight up onfield haha
What did we end up doing…any trades? Trust Gibbons to turn it on this week!!
First trade of the year…Balta turned into 0’Brien by popular demand
Nice.
