Finals Week 2 – The Rucks

by Motts on August 14, 2012

They should be just about sorted by now. Personally, I’m running with Kreuzer and McEvoy. Krooz has been on the block lately but came good with a 110 last week and with next week’s game against the Gold Coast I’d say he’ll keep his spot.

Are you happy with your tall timber? If not, who are you thinking about?

Giles to Mummy next week, just before that 177 leaves his 3 round average. Gives me an extra week in case of MORE injuries, he should score well this week and it should actually make me some money. Plus Mummy against the Cats in the GF, that could be huge for him. Will partner up with Nicnat.

I know this is nothing to do with Rucks but Ray ‘slug’ Jordon pass away this week aged 75.

Ray was a state wicket keeper, captain and selector with Victoria and also played VFA with Coburg.

He became a very successful under-19′s and reserves VFL coach with Richmond, North Melbourne, Melbourne and Essendon and in all coached 11 premierships. He even coach North’s senior side for 1 win in 1976 when Ron Barassi was unavailable.

Known as ‘slug’ due to the fact he took a bullet while doing National Service which was never removed.

He was also well known for his colourful and iconic commentary on radio and TV. As a radio cricket commentator at 2UE he worked with none other than Richie Benaud, Dennis Cometti and Max ‘Tangles’ Walker!

Some of us will remember this classic snippet from his work on Channel 7 during a Reserve’s game in 1985 down at the Lakeside oval: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDMlxoUhPSo

RIP Ray ‘Slug’ Jordon

Thumbs up – Do it, smash Crawf
Thumbs down – He has Giles, your team is better, save the trade

Nic Nat and Mumford, have been on Nic for three straight years, his consistency this year has been spectacular, really shows how he has developed. Mumford has finally hit form, I was starting to get worried I had made a mistake trading in bringing him in a few weeks ago, but the big fella has rewarded patience.

The best flavoured combination in my league seems to be Ivan Maric and Cox. With the top 3 teams, myself included having this duo… the big scores these 2 muster up will count for nothing in the semi’s and prelims.

Cox/Goldstein for mine.

I don’t think they’ve gone large at the same time though which is disappointing but at least they’re playing and averaging over 100 each!
